How Utah Civic Compact collects, uses, and protects information you share with us.

Who we are

Utah Civic Compact ("UCC," "we," "us") is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization based in Utah. We investigate government misconduct, publish civic journalism, and advocate for community accountability across Utah. Our website is utahciviccompact.org.

How we store your information

Tip submissions are transmitted over HTTPS and stored in Airtable, a third-party database platform. Airtable stores data on servers located in the United States. Access to the tip database is restricted to UCC editorial staff and leadership. Airtable's privacy practices are described at airtable.com/privacy.

Who can see your tip

Tip contents are reviewed only by UCC staff with a need to know for investigative purposes. We do not share your submission — or your identity — with outside parties, except:

Anonymity

You may submit a tip without providing your name. We take anonymous submissions seriously. However, your email address is still required for follow-up — if true anonymity is important to you, consider using a new email account not connected to your identity, or a service like Proton Mail.

How long we retain your information

We retain tip submissions for as long as necessary for our editorial and investigative purposes. If you request deletion of your submission and we have not yet published any reporting based on it, we will delete it. Once a tip has informed published reporting, we may retain it as part of our editorial record.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices change. The date at the bottom of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
